Singapore is intensifying its initiatives to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in embracing artificial intelligence (AI) through a series of new collaborations, training programs, and cybersecurity measures. These efforts were highlighted by Senior Minister of State for Digital Development and Information Tan Kiat How during the Asia Tech x Singapore event, where he emphasized the importance of practical AI implementation over merely keeping up with industry trends.

The government has revealed an expansion of the Digital Enterprise Blueprint (DEB), a strategic framework aimed at promoting SME digital transformation and AI adoption. Since the DEB’s inception, it has significantly impacted over 26,000 SMEs, with AI adoption within these businesses climbing from 4.3 percent in 2023 to an impressive 53.5 percent in 2025. This growth underscores the program’s effectiveness in fostering digital innovation among Singapore’s enterprises.

As part of these efforts, new partnerships with companies like Grab and RSM Stone Forest IT have been established to provide SMEs with essential AI training, technical assistance, and cybersecurity tools. Grab’s initiative is set to aid 10,000 SMEs in the food, retail, and e-commerce sectors. This support comes in the form of free online training, webinars, and AI courses crafted in collaboration with the Singapore University of Technology and Design. Meanwhile, RSM Stone Forest IT is introducing a cybersecurity program designed to conduct phishing simulation exercises for 2,000 SMEs, aiming to bolster their cyber defenses and expose potential vulnerabilities.

Moreover, the government has introduced the “AI for Enterprise Impact Playbook,” a resource created by the Infocomm Media Development Authority, SkillsFuture Singapore, and Workforce Singapore. This playbook serves as a guide for businesses to identify the most suitable AI solutions and pinpoint workforce training opportunities that align with their operational needs.

To further recognize and encourage AI adoption, Singapore is set to launch the inaugural SME AI Impact Awards in 2026. These awards will honor Singapore-registered SMEs that have successfully integrated AI solutions into their operations, demonstrating tangible improvements in business performance. Eligible companies must have utilized AI for at least six months and shown clear advancements in either their operational processes or workforce capabilities.
