Trump Abandons Talks: EU Hit with 50% Tariffs, Apple Faces iPhone Import Penalties

by admin477351

In a bold move, President Trump has announced a 50% tariff on all imports from the European Union, effective June 1, marking a sharp departure from ongoing trade negotiations. Trump cited a lack of progress and declared his intent to act unilaterally.
Apple is also in Trump’s sights, with a threat of at least a 25% tariff on imported iPhones unless manufacturing shifts to the US. The president’s warning extends to other tech giants, signaling a potentially seismic shift in global electronics supply chains.
Despite Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s attempts to revive talks, Trump has made it clear that he’s “not looking for a deal,” preferring to impose tariffs directly rather than continue with slow-moving negotiations.
