Easterly Winds Bring Flood and Landslide Risks to Southern Luzon

by admin477351

In the Philippines, the southern region of Luzon is bracing for significant rainfall overnight and into Wednesday due to easterly winds that are bringing moist air from the Pacific Ocean. This weather pattern is particularly affecting areas such as Quezon, Rizal, Laguna, Aurora, the Bicol Region, Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and northern Palawan. While the rainfall is generally expected to be light to moderate, some locations could experience heavier downpours.

The Visayas region is also expecting notable weather events, with Western Visayas projected to receive the most rainfall. Eastern Visayas will likely experience cloudy skies accompanied by scattered showers and thunderstorms, with the potential for moderate to heavy rain posing risks of flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas.

Northern Luzon is likely to see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rain due to the influence of northeasterly winds. Meanwhile, Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and other areas in Calabarzon are forecasted to have partly cloudy conditions with isolated showers and localized thunderstorms possible.

Across the Mindanao region, the weather is expected to remain generally fair during the morning, showcasing partly cloudy to sunny skies. However, localized thunderstorms might develop in the afternoon and evening, particularly in Northern Mindanao, the Caraga region, and the northern Zamboanga Peninsula.

Residents in regions prone to flooding and landslides are advised to remain vigilant, keep updated on weather forecasts, and carry umbrellas as a precautionary measure during periods of heavy rainfall. These advisories are crucial to ensuring safety and preparedness amidst the changing weather conditions.
